Monthly Goals
Each student will learn the importance of goal setting and will come up with their own piano goals on a monthly basis (short, medium or long term).
September 2011 - Month of Review
Review will be done in the form of flashcards, sight reading and ear training.
October 2011 - "The Wizard of Oz"
This month each student will learn a song or two from the movie, "The Wizard of Oz".
Each student will choose and practice their two recital songs for our 4th Annual Winter recital on Friday, November 25th.
November 2011 - Piano History Month
Who invented the piano? How many different types of pianos are there? Each student will learn the answers to the above questions and more as they do their own research on the history of the piano.
December 2011 - Disney Month
Each student will have a huge selection of Disney songs to choose from and learn.
January 2012 - Month of Review
Review will be done in the form of flashcards, sight reading and ear training.
February 2012 - Duet Month
Playing a duet will teach each student how to play with a partner. Not only do they have to listen to what they're playing, but to what their partner is playing as well. This is an experience they will definitely enjoy!
March 2012 - "Tomorrow"
Each student will have the opportunity to learn the song, "Tomorrow" from the hit musical, "Annie".
April 2012 - Canadian, eh!
Each student will have have the choice of learning to play, "O Canada!" or the "Hockey Night in Canada" theme song.
Each student will choose and practice their two recital songs for the 4th Annual Spring recital on Friday, May 25th.
May 2012 - "Mary Poppins"
This month each student will learn a song or two from the Walt Disney film, "Mary Poppins".
June 2012 - Canadian Musician Month
The last 15 minutes of each students lesson will be dedicated to learning more about the life of Canadian born pianists, Diana Krall & Oscar Peterson.
